Adapu perusahaan untuk baja konstruksi dinamai PT Krakatau Osaka Steel (KSO) dan perisahaan membuat baja otomotif adalah PT Krakatau Nippon Steel Sumikin (KNSS). Masing-masing berkapasitas produksi 500.000 ton per tahun dengan total investasi US$500 juta.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Dua pabrik itu diyakini dapat meningkatkan konten lokal kendaraan bermotor serta berbagai proyek infrastruktur. Saat ini kebutuhan baja otomotif tergantung dari impor, begitu juga baja konstruksi berspesifikasi khusus karena KS hanya memroduksi baja kelas standar. Aplikasi baja spesifikasi konstruksi berspesifikasi khusus contohnya dipakai dalam proyek tol Trans-Sumatra, rel kereta di Kalimantan, bahkan beton untuk pelabuhan yang tahan terhadap hantaman tsunami.
